Exploring the World of Forsakens
In the world of Verenia, "Forsaken" has two meanings. On one hand, they are souls going through a purification process in a place called The Abyss. On the other hand, in the world we live in, "Forsaken" are souls that didn't get the chance to start this purification, missing out on reaching a perfect state.
Forsakens Among Us
Through a special ceremony called The Summoning Ritual, Forsakens are brought into our world. They look like demi-humans because their souls still try to reach a perfect form. This appearance varies a lot because the process of bringing their soul into our world can change how they look. Mainly, how they look depends on their life's story and the significant wrongs they've done. Generally, the worse the wrong, the less human they look.
Forsakens in our world are very tough. They heal quickly from injuries, but they still feel tired, hungry, and emotional like everyone else. They can be "killed" in the way that severe injuries would kill a human, but they turn into blood crystals and eventually come back to life. Making a pact called a Red Covenant makes them come back faster.
Their memories about their past lives are hit or miss—some remember everything, some remember bits and pieces, and some don't remember anything at all.
If a Forsaken stays in our world too long without being bound by a Red Covenant, it's bad news. They start to lose themselves, becoming more like monsters over time.
Blood Magic
Each Forsaken has a unique blood magic power they got during The Summoning Ritual. This power is a big part of who they are, but how they use it can be very different. At first, their powers are not that strong, but they can get much stronger if they make a Red Covenant with someone who is still alive.
Interestingly, how a Forsaken looks doesn't always match up with how strong their blood magic is. A Forsaken who looks more human might have very powerful abilities, and one who looks less human might not be as strong.
In the adventure of Verenia, obtaining Forsakens mainly involves a feature known as "Gacha," which is a system where players can acquire these unique characters through a randomized selection. While this is the primary way to gain new Forsakens, it's also important to note that some Forsakens are made available to players for free during their initial journey through the game. This approach ensures that all players have a chance to experience the excitement of commanding Forsakens, regardless of their progression or investment in the game.
This system of acquisition is designed to provide an element of surprise and excitement, encouraging players to explore the vast possibilities and combinations of Forsakens to enhance their gameplay experience. Whether obtained through the gacha mechanism or awarded during the first playthrough, each Forsaken brings a unique set of abilities and lore, enriching the game's strategy and narrative depth.
